We recently told you about the return of open-air concerts this summer, thanks to the Andorra Mountain Music… We’re still with the good news: the big sporting events are coming back too. So get out your diary and make a note of these dates.
Top-level cycling competitions
If you’re a lover of two wheels, both road and mountain bike, you’ll be pleased to know that these great events are back on the summer calendar:
– The Tour de France will arrive in Andorra on 11 July. It will do part of its 15th stage in the Principality and finish in the capital. After a rest day, the next stage will start from Pas de la Casa in the direction of France.
– There will also be road cycling competitions in which you can take part if you are an experienced rider. There is the classic “Volta als ports” or the more innovative “Andorra 21 ports” which will take place on 18 July and from 24 to 26 June, respectively.
– Mountain bike races also have their place in Andorra, such as the Mussara in Naturlandia on 1 August. Or the Andorra MTB Classic-Pyrénées by Ironman divided into 3 stages from 30 June to 3 July.
The mountain trail races are also back
Another sporting event that is eagerly awaited in Andorra is the mountain trail races.
– One of the most famous is the Comapedrosa Skyrace where participants can climb to the top of Andorra at 2,942 metres on 25 July.
– A new event for mountain runners is scheduled: the Trail 100 Andorra-Pyrénées, a race with 4 different distances, from 24 to 27 June.
– The Ironman 70.3 will take place on 4 July and it will be the first time that a triathlon of this kind has come to Andorra.
– The obstacle course race par excellence returns to the Principality once again this year: the Spartan Race, with different difficulties and routes so that everyone can take part, on 12 and 13 June.
Sporting events are coming back with more enthusiasm than ever, as last year they had to be cancelled due to the situation caused by Covid. Although they are outdoors, the competitions and races return this summer following the health and safety measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
Whether you are a participant or a fan, you can round off the end of the day with a ticket to Caldea.
