The August long weekend is approaching, and you still don’t know what to do? We’ll give you five reasons why Andorra would be a good choice for your midsummer getaway. Read on!
In the Pyrenees, you will enjoy the high summer temperatures without feeling the stifling kind of heat which in other places is typical of August. As the climate is dry, you can withstand the heat more easily. Especially if you get out of the urban centres to enjoy a walk in the mountains, where the fresh breeze soon envelops you.
It is a fact that, in August, mountains are a destination for a minority of people. It is also true that more and more people are re-discovering Andorra as an option for their summer holidays.
Instead of the usual beach, full of people, choose the bank of a lake of crystal-clear water. You can forget the enforced listening to the music of a family that goes for lunch by the seaside ‒ instead, you can enjoy silence and birdsong. Leave the sand behind, and take the sun stretched out in a bright green meadow. Bucolic, no?
Yes. The heat in August is intense during the day, but the temperature falls at night, so you can sleep like a dormouse. We can assure you that if you are someone who feels the cold, you will even need a sheet to cover yourself at night…
At CALDEA we have prepared a very popular nocturnal show for you, which combines the uniqueness of hearing an electronic violin solo, live, with the spectacle of the Aquabowl & Pole acrobatic show, while you bathe all the time in thermal waters.
If you prefer, you can choose between enjoying the Caldea special evening offer which consists of an electronic violin concerto accompanied by a free cocktail at Inúu, or opting for SPACE, the acrobatics show enlivened by the melodies of Javi Lin’s electronic violin, which will take place in Thermoludic.
Popular traditions and fiestas
Many places have big fiestas during the long weekend of August. Andorra, Encamp and La Massana hold theirs during this period, with an extensive programme of activities.
In addition, for the 34th Colors de Música festival at Escaldes-Engordany, during almost the entire week you can enjoy open-air concerts in the Plaza Coprínceps (a square with several restaurants and cafés, only five minutes away from CALDEA). You will be able to hear different types of music, such as the rumba, British pop/rock and Senegalese rhythms.
