The Carmen Thyssen Museum in Andorra opened its doors at the start of this year, creating a new place of cultural interest for visitors. The space offers much more than just the opportunity to see paintings by the greatest artists of the last two centuries. Let us tell you about some of the other activities that you will be able to enjoy.
In the highest part of Escaldes-Engordany sits an iconic building dating from 1933. It housed the Hotel Valira for many decades but is now home to the Carmen Thyssen museum. The exhibition room is on the ground floor, and this is where visitors can enjoy the exhibitions which change each year. Currently on display is “Sceneries. From Monet to Estes. From Trouville to New York”, a collection of 26 paintings representing many artists and trends from the past two centuries under a common theme: the portrayal of spaces and landscapes.
In the exhibition room you will find three large touch screens which transform the visit into an interactive experience; you can look up information about each painting or zoom in on the works to appreciate all their finest details.
The museum is also home to the EduCarmenThyssen space, where little ones can discover art in a playful way, through memory and observation games and workshops.
And for the not so little ones, the museum organises escape room experiences named CODE: MCTA; participants are given one hour to solve the puzzles and find the codes that will let them escape from the exhibition.
