In less than 15 days, Grandvalira will be hosting both the men’s and women’s finals of the Alpine Ski World Cup. A date that fans of skiing and sports in general won’t want to miss!
The event will be held from 11 to 17 March on the pistes of Àliga (El Tarter area), where the downhill competitions will take place between 12 and 15 March, and the legendary Avet (Soldeu area), where the Slalom and Giant Slalom can be seen on 16 and 17 March. After being certified by the FIS in 2007 and 2013 respectively, many significant alpine skiing competitions have been held here, but this is the first year that Andorra has hosted the final of the World Cup.
The resort is just a 30-minute drive from Caldea and there will be stands so spectators can watch the competition in comfort. But if you don’t feel like making the trip, there will be huge screens in the centre of Andorra la Vella so everybody can enjoy the action without travelling to the resort… the atmosphere won’t be quite the same, but it’s a convenient way to see the show.
The Andorran skier who recently claimed the 23rd spot in the world slalom rankings in Åre (Sweden) will also be participating in the team event of the World Cup finals.
She regularly uses the gym facilities in Inúu to train and, thanks to the properties of Caldea’s thermal waters, she can also relax and recuperate after big events.
