Escape the routine this summer and discover new experiences for all your senses. From 30 June to 6 July, Escaldes-Engordany is hosting the 38th International Jazz Festival, an event with a long history that has been on hiatus since 2004.
2 great concerts to combine with our thermal waters
With the hope of resurrecting this unmissable event for jazz lovers, the International Jazz Festival will be putting on 20 concerts during the week of 30 June to 6 July.
Highlights among these include two premium concerts that we suggest you combine with admission to Thermoludic and Inúu, Caldea’s adults-only spa. You will be treated to a unique experience where you’ll be thrilled by the sounds of the jazz musicians in the Sala Prat del Roure (just a 5-minute walk from Caldea), before experiencing the contrasts of the different temperatures and intensities of our waters on your skin. And let’s not forget the visual spectacle you will be treated to at both the concert and when you relax in our thermal waters.
Escaldes-Engordany, the capital of Jazz for everyone
In addition to the four premium concerts planned for the Sala Prat del Roure, the Plaça Coprínceps – just a few metres from Caldea – will hold 16 free concerts with a capacity for approximately 1,000 people. Performers include the Liceu Jazz Group, the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, the Joan Chamorro Trio with Èlia Bastida, the HalliGalli Quartet, the Víctor Carrascosa Quartet and the Joan Mar Sauqué Trio.
Plus, on Sunday 3 July at 11 a.m. a series of small concerts will be held in the Parc de la Mola (right in front of the stairs to Caldea’s main entrance). And for the grand finale, on Wednesday 6 July at 9.30 pm you can enjoy a unique Jazz Picnic outside the Prat del Roure.
The Andorra International Jazz Festival
This music festival was launched in 1985 by a group of young locals whose love for this musical discipline succeeded in putting Andorra and Escaldes-Engordany on the map of European jazz festivals. It had an impressive run until its last event in 2004, with an international line-up featuring the likes of Miles Davis, Ray Charles, Paquito D’Rivera, Pat Metheny, Diane Reeves, BB King, Joshua Redman, Michel Camilo and George Benson.
This summer, the festival hopes to resurrect itself and bring back the friendly and intimate atmosphere that made it so popular almost two decades ago.
This summer, let yourself get swept away by the music and combine one of the flagship concerts of the 38th Andorra International Jazz Festival with the bubbles and thermal waters of Caldea’s Inúu spa.
